Roland Garros: Alcaraz Wins Title with Historic Comeback

Spain's Carlos Alcaraz, ranked second in the world, came from behind to overturn the tables on Italy's top seed Jannik Sinner, retaining his French Open title, the second Grand Slam at Roland Garros. He defeated him 4-6, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-2) on Sunday in a marathon final that lasted five hours and 29 minutes.

On Court Philippe Chatrier, in the longest final since the start of the Open era in 1968, the 22-year-old Murcia native extended his Grand Slam title haul with a fifth title, inflicting the first defeat on his 23-year-old Italian opponent in a Grand Slam final.

Alcaraz thus achieves his second consecutive title at the clay-court tournament and his fifth Grand Slam title, having won Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024 and his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2022.
