European Commission: Our relations with China are based on risk reduction and non-disengagement
The European Commission said on Tuesday that its relations with China wants to treat the European Union as a partner, not a competitor China are based on risk reduction and non-disengagement.
Last week, Yao Jing, China's ambassador to Spain, said that China wants to treat the European Union as a partner, not a competitor, amid a geopolitical shift and Washington's new trade policy, which he described as unilateral economic abuse.
Yao added that the EU's 2019 strategy, which described China as a "cooperation partner, economic competitor, and rival," makes no sense because both sides support open markets and rules-based trade. He continued, "We must focus on partnership... China will never be a threat or an enemy of any kind to the European Union," according to Reuters.
