Zakharova:Israel is the only country in the region that possesses nuclear weapons, and bombing Iran, which does not possess these weapons, along the US

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Israel is the only country in the region that possesses nuclear weapons, and it is bombing Iran, which does not possess them, along with the United States.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman wrote on her Telegram channel that "Israel is the only country in the Middle East that is ignoring the initiative to establish a nuclear-weapon-free zone."

She said: "Today, the only country in the region that possesses nuclear weapons is Israel, which systematically ignores initiatives aimed at establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, and is now bombing Iran, which does not possess nuclear weapons, in cooperation with the United States."

In response to statements by International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi, who called for a return to the negotiating table and allowing agency inspectors access to Iranian nuclear facilities, Zakharova said: "Missiles hit the negotiating table today," and it was difficult to miss their source.

The Russian diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel: "Missiles hit the negotiating table today. It was difficult to distinguish their source. Why again are the statements being embellished and stripped of any clear indication?"

On the night of June 22, the United States launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, with the aim of destroying or seriously weakening Iran's nuclear program, according to Washington.

For his part, US President Donald Trump warned Iran that it must agree to "end this war" or face even more serious consequences. His Vice President Vance affirmed after the attacks—which the Iranians described as barbaric and criminal—that his country was not at war with the Islamic Republic.

In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that "the door to diplomacy must always remain open, but now is not the time," considering that the United States had betrayed diplomacy. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran also confirmed that the country's nuclear industrial development would continue unabated.

The US strikes sparked widespread international condemnation, with UN Secretary-General António Guterres describing the attacks as a dangerous escalation in the region and a direct threat to international peace and security.

Russia also condemned the US strikes, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council resolutions, and called on the International Atomic Energy Agency to respond to the incidents. Cuba and China joined the list of countries condemning the US military operation.
