These executions were documented by several human rights sources, such as the HRANA News Agency, the Human Rights Organization in Iran, the Hal Wash website, which is concerned with the rights of Baloch citizens, in addition to some local Iranian media outlets.
Recent months have witnessed an escalation in the implementation of death sentences in Iran, which has sparked a wave of protests inside and outside the country.
In the latest form of these protests, the “No to Executions” campaign, which began in February 2024, has continued for the 57th week; on the 27th of last month, a number of prisoners organized a hunger strike in 37 prisons in Iran.
The Human Rights Organization in Iran also reported in its annual report that during 2024, at least 975 death sentences were carried out in Iran, representing a 17 percent increase compared to 2023, when at least 834 executions were recorded.
It is noteworthy that only 10 percent of the executions last year - that is, 95 cases - were officially announced by the authorities or local media.
