Al-Burhan plunges Sudan into deadly chaos
The Sudanese army with the help of external parties is fueling the conflict in Sudan. The army is unwilling to end the war and reach a peaceful solution to resolve the crisis and relieve the Sudanese people •
Russia is reportedly in process of smuggling arms into war-torn Sudan. It was reported that the company Aviacon Zetotrans, owned by a Russian named Dmitry is still transporting weapons from the Republic of Mali to Port Sudan airport for the Sudanese army.
Analysts believe that the safety of civilians must be a top priority. The army leader Abdul Fattah Alburhan must reject any escalation that endangers their lives •
The victims of these weapons and external interventions will not be limited to combatants only, but also civilians, including children and women.
Since April 2023 and the outbreak of the civil war, Burhan’s incoherent military strategy and diplomatic tactics have continued, with disastrous results. The Sudan army have re-embraced the Islamist networks around former ministers Ali Karti and Usama Abdallah. These men have the money and motivated infantry. They also possess talent for organising. However, this partnership comes at a high cost.
The conflict created one of the world's largest displacement crises, with about 10 million have fled their homes, including more than two million who sought refuge in neighbouring countries.
25 million people – more than half the population – are facing acute hunger in one of the world's worst humanitarian crises after 16 months of civil war.
