Angelina Jolie Reveals 'Painful' Details About Her Divorce from Brad Pitt

Actor Angelina Jolie has opened up about how difficult her divorce from ex-husband Brad Pitt was in new court documents filed regarding their ongoing legal battle over their French home, Chateau Miraval.

The Hollywood star addressed the split in a affidavit recently filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in response to her ex-husband's request for her to hand over private messages related to the chateau dispute.

"The events leading up to my separation from my ex-husband were emotionally difficult for me and our children," Jolie, who has previously accused Pitt of abuse, claimed in the documents obtained by Page Six. "Upon filing for divorce, I left him full control and residence of our homes in Los Angeles and Miraval, without compensation, which I hoped would ease his relationship with me after a difficult and painful period."

The 50-year-old movie star explained that she and her children—Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17—“never set foot in Miraval again” due to its association with the “traumatic events that led to our divorce.

” She revealed: “After the separation, I immediately began looking for a new home for me and our children, initially renting a temporary home while I searched for a more stable solution.” Pitt, 61, is suing Jolie for her stake in the lavish French property, claiming she sold it without his permission. Angelina maintains she did not need his permission.

She continued: “I was also very concerned about our children’s health, and for that reason, I refused to work for nearly two years so I could focus my attention on the care and recovery of our children.” She noted that she was in such financial distress that she could not even afford to buy a house with cash for herself and her children in Los Angeles.

Jolie also told the court that she is seeking $33,000 from Pitt to cover the legal fees she was required to pay in response to his demand that her letters be turned over.
