Content Industry: A Digital Market to Exceed $1 Trillion by 2033

In an era where images, words, and audio have become economic assets, content creation is no longer a hobby or a luxury; it has become a pillar of the global digital economy. This market is expected to reach $1.346 trillion by 2033.

This figure has reached $252 billion by 2025, driven by a boom in video and podcasting and the growing number of content creators worldwide. In this context, Dr. Mohamed Mohsen, a cybersecurity and cybercrime advisor, highlighted the most prominent features of this vital sector.

The Content Economy: From the Margins to the Core

Data indicates that more than 207 million people worldwide work in the content industry, 47 percent of whom work full-time. Surprisingly, 20 million of these earn an annual income exceeding $100,000, and 6 million of them exceed the $500,000 threshold.

The two most prominent sectors in this market are:

* Video streaming, with revenues reaching $157 billion.

* Podcasting, which generated $32 billion this year alone.

While it takes the average content creator approximately seven months to generate their first income, this field is no longer a choice but an economic, social, and cultural necessity.

A female-led industry par excellence... but with a stark income gap.

According to statistics, 64 percent of content creators worldwide are women, yet they face a striking income gap. The average income for women in this sector is nearly half that of men, around $35,000 annually, compared to $70,000 for men.

Dr. Mohamed Mohsen pointed out that women have a distinct impact on the content industry, believing that they possess stronger mechanisms and expressive tools, manifested in visual harmony, a sense of family, and community communication, in addition to their ability to remain consistent and dedicated, especially for those who do not work full-time. "When women create content, they easily reach every home... They have a great culture and a continuity that surpasses most men," Mohsen said.

The Power of the Digital Economy in Light of Technological Development

Mohsen believes that content creation represents one of the most powerful forms of the digital economy in the modern era, emphasizing that any company, institution, or satellite channel now needs a professional content creator, given the accelerating development of artificial intelligence tools and the proliferation of digital targeting and audience analysis technologies. He added, "Content creation is no longer a luxury; it has become a necessity in all fields... Visual content in particular has a broad impact that reaches all ages and enhances the presence of brands, countries, and institutions."

The Biggest Challenge: Digital Security and Reputation Maintenance

Mohsen warns of the cyber threats targeting content creators, noting that account theft or deactivation has become a recurring phenomenon, directly impacting public trust and the content creator's reputation.
