Deloitte revealed in its annual Football Finance Report, released Thursday, that the European football market grew by 8 percent to a record €38 billion ($43.5 billion) in the 2023/24 season.

The English Premier League again leads the way, with the top five leagues contributing a total of €20.4 billion, a 4 percent increase, followed by the German Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, and Ligue 1. The 96 clubs in Europe's top five leagues achieved an operating profit for the second consecutive season, amounting to €600 million, according to the report, which does not include transfer revenue.

Deloitte indicated that additional commercial revenues were the main driver, reaching €2 billion in England for the first time, and €8 billion in the top five leagues. Broadcast rights revenues remained the largest source of revenue, reaching €9.4 billion.

England again topped the list with total revenues of €7.354 billion, an 8% increase, far ahead of Germany, which generated €2.797 billion, and Spain, which generated €3.764 billion.

Bundesliga revenues decreased by 1% compared to the 2022/23 season, with matchday and advertising revenues declining by 2% each, while broadcast revenues increased by 1%. Deloitte explained that the main reason for this decrease was the relegation of Schalke 04 and Hertha Berlin, two clubs with large stadiums and large fan bases.
