The Egyptian team was nominated under the umbrella of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and achieved impressive results, winning two gold medals and two silver medals.
An Egyptian team participated in the 50th Geneva International Innovation Exhibition, one of the most prestigious international innovation exhibitions, which featured more than 1,000 innovations from representatives of 35 countries.
The team was nominated under the umbrella of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and achieved impressive results, winning two gold medals and two silver medals.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, congratulated the members of the Egyptian team nominated by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology on their winning of four medals.
Awards Distribution
The awards were distributed to Dr. Engineer Tarek Ahmed Mansour, Assistant General Manager at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, who received the gold medal for his innovation, "Design and Manufacturing of Rotating Discs in Treatment Plants Using Composite Materials."
Dr. Gamal Kamel Hassan, a researcher at the National Research Center, received the gold medal for his innovation, "Using Modern Nanotechnological Materials in Environmental Applications."
Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Mahmoud El-Tahlawi, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Zagazig University, received the silver medal for his innovation, "Variable Pressure Arterial Balloon."
Dr. Hazem Bayoumi El-Sayed El-Sebaei, a professor of orthopedics at Cairo University, received the silver medal for his innovation, "A Device for Correcting Scoliosis Using Robots."
For her part, Dr. Gina El-Feki, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, explained that the Academy is keen to support Egyptian innovators to participate in the Geneva International Exhibition annually, as it is the largest and most important global exhibition in the field of innovation, in various fields, including engineering, construction, environmental protection, and energy.
She stated that the Academy focused on supporting researchers from universities, research centers, and institutes, and their assistants, to participate in the exhibition, according to announced criteria to ensure the best representation of Egypt.
Stages of Selection and Screening of Participants
It is worth noting that the selection of participants proceeded through several stages, beginning with meeting the announced criteria, followed by a technical evaluation by specialized experts, and then personal interviews with the jury.
Selection criteria included: the innovative idea, its relevance to the country's priorities, the scientific basis, the possibility of a prototype or practical results, registering or obtaining a patent, submitting an international application, and finally, the marketing vision.
Thirty-seven researchers in nine scientific fields applied to participate, and four researchers were selected after passing all evaluation stages with a score of 80% or higher.
