After being banned in El Gouna, "The Last Mirac participates in the Cairo Film Festival

After a year-long wait, Abdel Wahab Shawky's "The Last Miracle" returns to the art scene after being released and cleared for screening, but this time on a different platform.

The film, which was scheduled to open the seventh El Gouna Film Festival last year, was unable to obtain approval from the Censorship Board, headed by former censor Khaled Abdel Jalil. The film was banned from screening for censorship reasons, but it returned a year later to participate in the Short Narrative Film Competition at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, which begins on November 12.

The film, based on the novel "Miracle" by Naguib Mahfouz, received censorship approval through the new censor, Abdel Rahim Kamal. The Cairo Film Festival administration, headed by Hussein Fahmy, announced its participation in the official competition for short narrative films.

The film's director, Abdel Wahab Shawky, expressed his great happiness at the film's selection at the Cairo International Film Festival, emphasizing that it came after a long journey, which he described as a "violent and complex battle," which he said had gifted him "a group of fans" for his new film.

The film, starring Khaled Kamal, tells the story of a forty-year-old journalist named "Yahya" who receives a mysterious call from a "dead" person, which takes him on a long "spiritual journey."
