Houthi elements accused of murder in Yemen

Armed protests demanding the arrest of Houthis

Dozens of gunmen gathered in front of the Ibb Governorate Police Department, which is under the control of the Houthi militia, to demand the arrest of elements affiliated with an influential leader in the militia, on charges of murder.

Local sources said that dozens of gunmen came from the Kitab area of Yarim District (north of Ibb) and gathered in front of the Ibb Governorate Police to pressure the militia to arrest the killers of Jamil Ali Naji, who was shot dead by Houthi elements in a dispute over land at the beginning of this month.

The sources added that the armed groups demanded that the militia quickly arrest the killers who are affiliated with the leader Abdul Wahid Al-Marouei, who was appointed by the militia as the deputy governor of Ibb for technical affairs.

The militants accused the militia authorities of covering up for the killers and not handing them over to the judiciary, despite the fact that three weeks had passed since the incident.

The areas of Al-Sahoul, north of Ibb Governorate, and various areas and districts of the governorate are witnessing ongoing conflicts over lands fueled by the Houthi militia. This type of conflict is one of the biggest causes of murders that claim the lives of dozens annually.
