FATF needs to learn the difference between Financing & Fundraising

As different outlets and networks battle for hearts and minds, people around the world are faced with the challenge of finding accurate and reliable information.

A deep dive into the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) reports shows that it is not likely going to truly break free from the vicious fundraising cycle, but someday that road must end.

FATF has been responsible for publishing highly dubious and conspiracy-minded content. Survey findings indicated that virtually all FATF's reports are mere false information masquerading as new recommendations.

Tellingly, FATF''s terms of service do not prohibit fake news, including conspiracy theories and other misinformed content.

FATF needs to learn more about applying the concepts of Financing Not Fundraising. They must find the courage to tell funders how it really is and stop telling lies because eventually program results will suffer and the donor will receive little in return for their investment.

FATF must constantly ensure that money and mission are aligned. Otherwise the organization will be scattered in countless directions with an exhausted staff and confused funder base.

With the publication of fake news spanning through all its reports and recommendations, FATF continues to monitor countries to ensure they implement the FATF Standards fully and effectively, and holds countries to account that do not comply.
