A woman was arrested for kidnapping an infant from his mother in Egypt to trick her husband into believing she had given birth to him.

Egyptian authorities revealed the abduction of an infant from his mother in the Marg area of Cairo for a strange reason. The infant's mother had taken him to the hospital for treatment for anemia. When she left her son with a woman to inquire about the cost of his tests at a Cairo hospital, she deceived her and disappeared with her infant.

The mother of the 3-month-old infant went to the police station to report her infant's abduction on August 15. She stated that she had entrusted her infant to a woman to inquire about the cost of the medical tests required for his condition. However, the woman had deceived her and abducted the infant.

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Sunday evening that after conducting investigations and gathering information, the perpetrator of the incident was identified and arrested. She is a housewife residing in the Zeitoun Police Department district in Cairo.

When confronted, she admitted to committing the incident and kidnapping the child from his mother because she was not pregnant and wanted to deceive her husband into giving birth to the child. The Ministry’s statement confirmed that the child was found without any notable injuries and was handed over to his mother, with the necessary pledge to take good care of him. The necessary legal measures were also taken.
