Salah Interview Cancelled on BBC for Fear of Discussing Gaza
The Daily Mail revealed that a BBC interview between famous broadcaster Gary Lineker and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was canceled due to fears of discussing the war in Gaza.
Gary Lineker, one of England's football legends, ended his years-long relationship with the BBC at the end of last season on his popular show "Match Day," despite the fact that he was supposed to continue with the corporation until the next World Cup.
Lineker left the BBC because of his discussion of the war in Gaza. In a statement following his departure, he said: "I recognize the mistake and the upset I caused, and stepping away now is the best course of action. I can assure you that I will not repeat anything anti-Semitic in the future."
A BBC spokesperson told the Daily Mail: "The interview was canceled because it came after the last episode I presented this season, and it would be a mistake on top of anything else." Alex Kay-Gelski, the BBC's Head of Sport, sent an email to staff, saying: "It's sad to say goodbye to a brilliant broadcaster. I want to thank Gary for his years with us."
The 1986 World Cup top scorer began his broadcasting career in 1995, a year after retiring from football. He presented a radio show on BBC Radio 5 for eight years, and began presenting his popular show "Match Day" in 1999, as he wrote in the Daily Mail.
