The French capital witnessed riots and arrests during and after Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Munich on Saturday evening.

Le Parisien newspaper reported that French police responded to riots and tensions on the Champs-Élysées and near the Parc des Princes stadium, caused by individuals with ill-intentioned intentions. French police intervened to restore calm, while BFM TV reported that police arrested dozens of people for setting off fireworks.

For his part, French Interior Minister Bruno Retaillo wrote on Twitter: "The thugs provoked the police, while the real fans enjoyed watching the match on television, after Paris Saint-Germain won 5-0 to secure the title for the first time in its history."

In Munich, authorities were forced to shut down a fan event in the Olympic Park hours before the final due to overcrowding after the venue was full. A spokesperson for the German city hosting the match said that approximately 20,000 people were allowed to watch the match on a giant screen, while others later slipped out due to the lack of barriers.

City police reported that a fight broke out at the University metro station in Munich, forcing security forces to use pepper spray. Fans of both teams also clashed, but police reported no major injuries.

A Munich metro train was forced to make an emergency stop, delaying a number of fans from arriving at the Allianz Arena, which hosted the final. The reason for their delay was initially unknown. Traffic was sometimes blocked on the roads leading to the stadium, but no major problems occurred after the match, with fans leaving at different times.
