After the Club World Cup nightmare, concerns are knocking at the door of the 2026 World Cup

Concerns have emerged regarding the hosting of the 2026 World Cup matches in the United States, particularly regarding the Club World Cup currently being held there.

The 2025 Club World Cup will be held in the United States with 32 teams, the first time in the competition's history. At the same time next year, the 2026 World Cup will be held with 48 teams, in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with the United States hosting the largest share of matches.

Concerns are knocking at the door of the 2026 World Cup

According to the British newspaper "The Sun," concerns are growing regarding the 2026 World Cup due to severe weather conditions that could affect the Club World Cup. Four Club World Cup matches were delayed within the first five days of its hosting across the United States. With a heatwave expected to hit the country next week, more problems are expected, with fans and players alike at risk.

So far, four matches in the Club World Cup have been temporarily suspended due to thunderstorms. The Sun reported that this situation has raised growing concerns about the impact it could have on next summer's World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Because of the time difference, and to ensure fans in most parts of the world have the opportunity to watch their teams play, many matches are scheduled for the afternoon local time in the United States, the hottest time of day.

Reports indicate that fans at the Club World Cup have been forced to leave the stands during matches due to the soaring temperatures, and water shortages have also been reported in stadiums, even despite poor attendance.
