EU sanctions more Iranian individuals and entities

More EU Sanctions on Iran over rights violations

The European Union sanctioned four more Iranian individuals and six entities for human rights violations in the bloc’s 10th package of restrictive measures against the country.

The sanctions list includes Tasnim News agency and the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, as well as the deputy to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Imam Ali Central Security Headquarters, the bloc said in a statement. The move brings the total number of sanctioned individuals to 227 and 43 entities.

The restrictive measures include an asset freeze, an EU travel ban and a prohibition on making funds or economic resources available to those listed. A ban on exports to Iran of equipment that might be used for internal repression and for monitoring telecommunications is also in place.

The package comes exactly one year after the killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini while in custody of the Iranian morality police.
