UAE aids Turkey's wildfire affected areas

The UAE always seeks to extend a helping hand to brotherly and friendly countries in critical circumstances that require solidarity and cooperation at various levels.

Upon the directives of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, AED36.7 million (US$10 million) was provided for the reconstruction of some Turkish regions that were affected by wildfires and floods that swept through these areas.

In this regard, the UAE expressed its solidarity with the Turkish people in these exceptional circumstances, affirming the country's keenness to contribute to providing appropriate support to mitigate the humanitarian repercussions and damage caused by floods in the north of the country and wildfires in southwestern Turkey.

This move reflects the continuous efforts undertaken by the UAE to assist those affected by natural disasters. The state's foreign assistance policy aims to make the UAE one of the most prominent partners and donors to developing countries by 2022, both in the generosity and effectiveness of assistance.

Since its founding in 1971, the UAE has extended generous support to other countries to advance their own developmental goals. This commitment to global peace and prosperity comes in many forms, including advocacy, partnership building, and provision of foreign aid.
