US Justice Department Refuses to Cooperate with French Investigation into X Platform

The US Justice Department has informed French law enforcement authorities that it will not assist in the investigation into Elon Musk's social media platform X, following a raid on the company's Paris office earlier this year.

This comes according to a letter from the Justice Department's Office of International Affairs, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. The investigation stems from allegations that the platform engaged in the systematic manipulation of automated systems and the fraudulent extraction of data.

In the two-page letter, dated Friday, the Justice Department's Office of International Affairs accused French authorities of improperly abusing their judicial system to interfere in the affairs of a US company, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The French prosecutor's office's cybercrime unit, in conjunction with Europol and with support from the French police's cybercrime unit, searched X's Paris office last February as part of an investigation opened in January. French authorities opened an investigation in January following accusations that the platform manipulated algorithms.
