Urgent health alert.. Infant formula recalled due to toxic substance.

Nestlé announced late Tuesday that it is recalling specific batches of its Sama infant formula and its next-generation formula due to the potential presence of a toxic substance that can cause nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps.

Nestlé and the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) published a list of batch details for the products that should not be consumed, warning of the potential presence of the toxic substance cerolide.

The FSA stated: "Cerolide is highly thermally stable, meaning it is unlikely to be deactivated or destroyed by cooking, using boiling water, or during the preparation of infant formula."

"If ingested, it can cause symptoms to appear rapidly," the company added. In a notice to customers, Nestlé said there have been no confirmed reports of illness to date.

Next year-round careline numbers for the UK and Ireland have been published so customers can seek refunds. The company stated: "Out of an abundance of caution, Nestlé has decided to conduct this voluntary product recall in line with our rigorous protocols for product quality and safety."
