At least 350 tourists trapped on the Tibetan side of Mount Everest (a Chinese territory) have been rescued following a snowstorm, according to Chinese state media.

The report stated that rescue teams safely transported the group to the nearest settlement, Qudang. Earlier reports indicated that approximately 1,000 people were trapped at an altitude of about 4,900 meters on the eastern side of the mountain.

Their tents were reportedly partially damaged by the storm, and heavy snow blocked access roads. The number of people trapped on Mount Everest remains unclear.

The state-run news outlet Jimo Xinwen reported injuries at the site, although there was no confirmed information on possible deaths. Notices on the official WeChat accounts of local travel agency Tengri County Tourism indicated that snowfall began Friday evening and continued throughout Saturday. The company added that ticket sales and entry to the Everest region were suspended from late Saturday evening.

Across the border in Nepal, police said heavy rains caused landslides and flash floods, blocking roads, destroying bridges, and killing at least 47 people since Friday. Separate landslides in the eastern Ilam region bordering India killed 35 people. Nine people were reported missing after being swept away by floodwaters, and three others were killed by lightning strikes in other parts of the country.
