SeaShield, an Egyptian company specializing in digital solutions, announced its support for the provision of eSIM connectivity services in Egypt in partnership with four local mobile network operators.

eSIM technology allows the use of embedded eSIMs without the need for a physical SIM card. This development comes amid the growing global trend toward adopting flexible connectivity technologies that support the Internet of Things (IoT).

This technology also allows users to activate or switch mobile subscriptions directly through their smart devices, without the need for a physical SIM card replacement, improving the user experience and enhancing service efficiency.

The deployment of this technology is expected to accelerate digital transformation at various levels, particularly in sectors such as smart metering and industrial IoT applications, in line with global trends in the field of communications and technology.

This service is based on a platform developed by Thales, a French company operating in the fields of defense and secure technology, and provides a solution compliant with GSMA standards. According to official data, the company completed more than 400,000 downloads of eSIM subscriptions in less than five months since its initial launch, and the service is expected to expand to include new market segments by 2025.

This development comes at a time when countries in the region are racing to enhance their digital infrastructure, particularly with the increasing reliance on smart communication technologies as part of government digital transformation policies. eSIMs represent a promising step toward more flexible and efficient telecommunications services.
