France Responds to Israeli Foreign Minister: "Your Accusations Are Shameful and Unjustified"

The French Foreign Ministry described Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar's accusations against European officials of inciting anti-Semitism as "shameful and unjustified." The French response came after Israel accused some European countries of incitement against it, describing the attack near the Jewish Museum in Washington as an "anti-Semitic crime."

"I call on world leaders to stop incitement against Israel," Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said at a press conference in Jerusalem on Thursday. He accused several European countries of incitement against his country.

He added, "This incitement is also practiced by leaders and officials in many countries and international bodies, especially in Europe."

Sa'ar did not name any countries or officials, but said that a climate of hostility toward Israel was behind the shooting of embassy staff Yaron Leschinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim outside the Jewish Museum in Washington on Wednesday.

"Terrorism is pursuing us."

He considered that "there is a direct connection between anti-Semitic propaganda and the murder that took place in Washington." He also stated that "terrorism is pursuing Israel everywhere, but it will not surrender to it." Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considered the Washington attack evidence of violent incitement against Israel.

He confirmed that he had ordered increased security measures at his country's diplomatic missions around the world after the murder of two employees at the Israeli embassy in Washington. He also pledged to "fight anti-Semitism and violent incitement against Israel... relentlessly," he said.
