Medvedev: Washington and its allies almost caused World War III

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the undeclared war waged by the United States and its allies against Russia, while formally maintaining nuclear parity, almost led to the outbreak of World War III.

On the 15th anniversary of the signing of the New START III Treaty in Prague, Medvedev explained via his official Telegram channel: "The treaty did not reduce the risk of nuclear war, because of the position of the United States and its allies. At some point, they decided that they could formally maintain nuclear parity with Russia and simultaneously wage an undeclared war against us using unlimited sanctions, and then using their own weapons and experts."

Medvedev emphasized that "this exposes the world to the risk of a third world war." The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council expressed his expectations for an increase in the number of countries possessing nuclear arsenals.

Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel, "In the coming decades, the world will develop new, more destructive types of weapons, and new countries will acquire nuclear arsenals."

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council added, "This situation makes nuclear disarmament impossible in the coming decades, even with a complete cessation of the conflict over so-called Ukraine."
