Clashes erupt between government forces and Houthi militia
Armed clashes broke out early Saturday morning between government forces and Houthi militia west of Taiz (southwest of Yemen).
The media of the joint forces on the West Coast said that the National Resistance Forces - led by Presidential Leadership Council member Tariq Saleh - engaged in armed clashes early this morning, following the militia's attempt to attack military sites in the Al-Kadha sector, west of Taiz.
He added that units of the Third Brigade, "Guardians of the Republic," repelled the Houthi militia attacks and inflicted human and material losses on them, without further details.
This comes one night after the National Army forces in the Taiz axis thwarted a similar infiltration attempt by the Houthi militia in the Kalaba neighborhood, northeast of Taiz.
During the past few days and weeks, the Houthi militia has intensified its hostile operations towards government forces’ positions on various fronts in the governorate, with mobilization and construction of military fortifications, in a new wave of escalation aimed at disrupting regional and international efforts to resume negotiations and end the conflict.
