Houthis seize Yemenis' money to fund terror activities

The Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia in Yemen continues to exploit harsh economic conditions through forcing Yemenis to pay extra funds for Zakat Al-Fitr, based on the high price of grain.

The terrorist militia have applied a fatwa by the militia’s mufti, Shams al-Din bin Sharaf al-Din, raising the sum of zakat al-Fitrah to 550  per person.

A statement by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sana’a said that Houthi teams from the newly created Zakat Authority carried out a field visit that targeted shops and companies and closed shops to force them hand over copy of their accounting systems before imposing new taxes.

The Houthi decision obliges all Zakat offices to collect Zakat Al-Fitr from government offices and the private sector under the control of the terrorist militia.

This comes as part of a series of decisions by the Houthi militia aimed at collecting and plundering public funds and revenues and confiscating the salaries of employees in their areas of control.

It is noteworthy that Zakat al-Fitrah was three years ago (200 riyals) for one person before the militias raised it to (500 riyals) per person, an increase of 300% over what it used to be.

The Chamber of Commerce in Amanat Al-Asimah and the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry expressed their condemnation of those arbitrary measures that contravene the provisions of Islamic Sharia law and violate the laws.
