Video: Shakira announces the official 2026 World Cup song

Colombian singer Shakira posted a short clip of the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals on her Instagram account last Thursday.

At the beginning of the song "Day Day", Shakira appears walking on the field of the famous Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, carrying the official World Cup ball for the tournament, named "Trionda", under her arm. 

Then the international singer sang part of the song accompanied by dancers, and at the end, the camera moved away from the stadium to show the phrase “We are ready” written on the ceiling.

The World Cup song, which Shakira performs in collaboration with Nigerian musician Burna Boy, is scheduled to be released in full next Thursday, and FIFA also shared the singer’s post on Instagram. 

Shakira previously sang the official song for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where it was called “Waka Waka.”

The men's World Cup will be held in June and July 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Over the weekend, the pop star held a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro in front of an estimated two million visitors.
