Egypt Officially Blocks Roblox
Essam El-Amir, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, announced that the Council has officially decided to block the Roblox game in Egypt.
Coordination is underway with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to implement the decision. This announcement came during his address to the Senate's plenary session on Sunday, chaired by Counselor Essam Farid, the Council's Speaker, to discuss several requests for debate regarding the dangers of the internet and social media for children.
Dr. Walaa Hermas Radwan, a member of the Senate, had submitted a proposal a few days prior to regulate the Roblox online gaming platform. The proposal aimed to protect the moral and educational values of children and youth, reduce the psychological and behavioral risks associated with using the platform, and regulate the operation of online gaming platforms in general.
The Senate's Education, Scientific Research, Communications, and Information Technology Committee, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, discussed the proposal to restrict the Roblox online gaming platform as part of efforts to protect youth from inappropriate content.

The MP who submitted the proposal presented the explanatory memorandum and research appendix, which defined the nature of the platform and identified its associated risks and negative effects. These included content unsuitable for children, the ability to communicate directly with strangers, and the psychological and behavioral impacts on young users.
The memorandum also addressed the economic and behavioral dimensions resulting from in-game purchase systems. It reviewed several lawsuits, legal disputes, and international warnings related to the platform, in addition to presenting various international experiences in regulating or banning the use of Roblox.
