Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique responded to controversial comments made by star player and world's best player Ousmane Dembélé following the shocking defeat against Stade Rennais on Friday.

The capital club suffered its third defeat of the season, losing 3-1 to hosts Stade Rennais on Friday in Ligue 1. The defending champions remain on 51 points from 22 matches, but could drop to second place if Lens manage to defeat Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

Following the match, Dembélé directed what were considered "criticisms" at his teammates, urging them to show more enthusiasm and play as a team. Speaking to the French league's official channel, he said: "We need to show more enthusiasm, and above all, we need to play with the Paris Saint-Germain spirit to win every match."

The French forward added: "If every player plays for himself on the pitch, it won't work, and we won't win the titles we want." He continued: "Last season, we put the club's interests and the Paris Saint-Germain badge above everything else, even before thinking about ourselves."

However, Dembélé's comments didn't seem to sit well with his coach, Enrique, who said: "The statements made about some of my players after this match are worthless to me."

The Spanish coach added: "I will never allow any player to be above the club. That's perfectly clear. These statements are worthless. They stem from frustration after the match that just ended."
