Anthropic Gives Its Cloud AI App Unprecedented Capabilities
Anthropic, an AI app company and OpenAI competitor, is expanding its Cloud app into other areas, including financial services, as AI developers compete for leadership. With the latest version, Cloud Opus 4.6, the app will also be able to perform financial analysis tasks.
Anthropic says this means the AI agent will evaluate company data, mandatory disclosures, and market information. Shares of some financial analysis firms have seen significant price drops since the company unveiled its new AI software, according to a report by the German Press Agency (dpa).
Last week, Anthropic already caused a decline in the share prices of traditional software companies in this field by offering legal services. Anthropic asserts that Cloud Opus 4.6 is more efficient at detecting security vulnerabilities in software. This program discovered more than 500 previously unknown critical security vulnerabilities in a range of open-source software.
However, Anthropic also warned that cyber attackers are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) to carry out their attacks. Around the same time, OpenAI, the developer of the AI chatbot GBT, released an updated version of its AI programming software.
The company said that the GBT 5.3 Codex application is the first AI model to have significantly co-engineered itself. Both OpenAI and Anthropic are competing to integrate their AI software into businesses and government agencies.
The industry is currently focused on so-called AI proxies, designed to perform multi-step tasks autonomously. AI has already revolutionized software development. While programmers used to write most of the code manually, large portions are now generated by AI and reviewed by human developers.
