How did pizza signal the start of Washington's operation in Venezuela?

A pizza restaurant near the Pentagon experienced an unusual surge in orders late Saturday night, coinciding with the US launching a large-scale strike in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.

According to the Pentagon Pizza Report, which tracks activity at fast-food restaurants near the Pentagon and considers it an unofficial indicator of heightened US security measures, Pizzato Pizza saw a sudden spike in customers in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The account on the X platform reported that the restaurant experienced a "sudden increase in orders" at 2:04 AM Eastern Time, an activity that continued until approximately 3:05 AM.

The account later added that the restaurant was "almost empty and activity returned to zero" at 3:44 a.m., after a period of activity lasting about an hour and a half—a pattern that has been repeated on previous occasions linked to major US military operations or movements.

This unofficial indicator, which has circulated for years on social media, suggests that increased nighttime orders near the Pentagon often coincide with emergency meetings or sensitive security operations.

This activity coincided with the sound of loud explosions heard in the vicinity of the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, hours before US President Donald Trump's official announcement of the operation.

Local reports indicated that the explosions began around 2:00 a.m. local time, an early indication of the start of the military operation. This comes amidst rapidly evolving developments in Venezuela, with an unprecedented escalation between Washington and Caracas, and international anticipation of the repercussions of the US action on the regional landscape.
