New Liquid Glass Interface Setting in iOS 26.1 Update
Apple has officially released iOS 26.1 for iPhones, which includes several new features and improvements focused on ease of use and privacy, as well as enabling users on the beta version to revert to the stable version.
One of the most notable additions in this update is the new Liquid Glass feature, which allows users to customize the interface's appearance. Users can now choose between "Clear Mode," which reveals the content beneath the glass layer, and "Tinted Mode," which enhances the contrast and clarity of elements on the screen.
This feature can be accessed via Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass, according to a report published by PhoneArena. Apple has also added a long-awaited option to disable the camera opening feature when swiping from the lock screen.
This feature aims to reduce the likelihood of accidental camera opening. This option can be enabled or disabled via Settings > Camera > Swipe from Lock Screen to Open Camera. Another notable addition is the return of the slide-to-stop alarm and timer slider, a touch reminiscent of the "Slide to Unlock" feature that accompanied the first iPhone in 2007, with improvements to make the experience smoother.
Apple also expanded support for real-time translation on AirPods to include new languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Italian, after previously being limited to English, French, Spanish, and German.
The Apple TV app received a new icon and a name change from Apple TV+ to Apple TV, a move that unifies the entertainment platform's identity. The update also adds new tools to the Fitness app for manually recording workouts, improves audio quality in FaceTime calls in weak connection conditions, and automatically activates safety filters for content on teen accounts.
The iOS 26.1 update is currently available for iPhone 11 and later models, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE, and can be downloaded via the usual path: Settings > General > Software Update. This update represents a combination of aesthetic improvements and new options that enhance the daily user experience and add more control and privacy for iPhone users.
