Lamine Yamal's family is in pain... His father "weeps" and pleads with Barcelona to take action

Press reports revealed that Munir Nasraoui, Lamine Yamal's father, contacted Barcelona president Joan Laporta in tears, pleading with him to intervene and stop the insults and wave of racism directed at his son, the star of the Spanish club.

The Spanish newspaper El País reported in a shocking investigation that the young Barcelona star, Lamine Yamal, has become the most targeted player for racism on social media in Spain, with 60% of the attacks directed at him. He was described as "black" and "Moroccan" more than 20,000 times.

The newspaper detailed the player's family's reactions, reporting that his father, Munir Nasri, wept and contacted Barcelona president Laporta, while his mother, Sheila Ibana, demanded an immediate response from the club and its president.

The report added: Those close to him confirm that he is unaffected, but exhausted from being the center of every discussion. His family is the one suffering the most, especially after commentator "Mono" Burgos remarked: "If he doesn't succeed in football, he'll end up at a traffic light." The newspaper continued: Yamal himself heard the commentator's remark and responded, saying: "I tried to praise him, but I couldn't find the right words."

The report concludes by emphasizing the need to cultivate a culture of respect and non-discrimination both on and off the field—and that there is still a long way to go to eradicate hate speech in football.

According to the Spanish newspaper, Yamal is not the only one subjected to such racist insults. It appears that Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior is the primary target of racist attacks, with the investigation revealing that he received 29% of these attacks.

September 22nd was the day Lamine Yamal faced the most racism, when he attended the Ballon d'Or ceremony after finishing second to Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé. Other stars were not spared racist attacks, including Kylian Mbappé, Alejandro Baldé, Moroccan Brahim Díaz, and Iñaki Williams.
