Google Pixel Brings Smart Adjustments to Maps, Photos, and Notifications

Google has announced its latest periodic update for Pixel phones, codenamed Pixel Drop, which introduces a range of new features focused on artificial intelligence, battery efficiency, and an improved notification experience.

Among the most notable additions is the Notification Summary feature, which allows users to get smart summaries of long conversations. This puts Google in direct competition with Apple's Notification Summary feature, introduced last year.

The company also plans to release an additional feature in December to automatically mute low-priority notifications, according to a report by TechCrunch.

Google has also added a power-saving mode to the Maps app, which reduces battery consumption by dimming the screen and displaying only the route and essential information. According to the company, this mode can provide up to four additional hours of battery life on Pixel 10 phones.

As for security, Google has expanded its call fraud detection feature, powered by Gemini Nano technology, to users in the UK, Ireland, India, Australia, and Canada, after initially being exclusive to the US.

It has also added a new notification option that displays an alert indicating a potentially fraudulent message. On the creative front, Google launched Remix, powered by the Nano Banana image model and Gemini technology, within the Messages app. This feature allows users to reimagine photos using text commands.

The feature is initially available in several English-speaking countries, including the US, UK, Australia, and India. Google Photos also received a smart update that allows users to perform specific edits with commands such as, "Remove Riley's glasses, open your eyes, and make Angel smile," relying on facial recognition to accurately apply the changes.

In addition, the Call Notes feature has been expanded to include new countries such as Australia, Canada, and Japan, while the system interface has received a theme pack inspired by the film “Wicked: For Good,” including new wallpapers, icons, and system sounds for Pixel 6 devices and above.

It appears that Google is aiming to enhance the integration of artificial intelligence with the daily user experience through this November update, a move that underscores the ongoing fierce competition with Apple in the areas of privacy, battery life, and smart personalization.
