Pichai Says AI Is Not Infallible
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, Google's parent company, warned against "blind reliance" on everything that comes from artificial intelligence tools. In an interview with the BBC, Pichai emphasized that AI models can make mistakes, warning of the "potential risk of an AI bubble bursting."
He advised using AI models alongside other tools, because, as he put it, "they are not infallible." Since last May, Google has integrated AI into its search engine to provide users with an enhanced experience, and it plans to launch its Gemini 3.0 AI model soon, though it has not yet specified a date.
Pichai explained that AI tools are useful if a user wants to write something creative, adding that "people need to learn how to use these tools in their best interests," and warning against "blindly trusting everything they say." He added, "We pride ourselves on the work we do to provide as accurate information as possible, but current AI technology, while relatively new, is still prone to errors."
When asked if Google was immune to the effects of an AI bubble bursting, Pichai stated that "no company will be immune, including us." Last month, the chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States, warned of a potential US stock market crash due to an "AI bubble."
