Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, a player for Manchester City, said he is proud to represent his country in the English Premier League, adding that he hopes his performance will inspire other Egyptian players to achieve their dreams in Europe.
In an interview with the official pages of the English Premier League, the Egyptian star recalled his first months at the Etihad Stadium, where he scored seven goals in 13 matches since joining the team from Eintracht Frankfurt last January.
He added in a video clip published by the official account of the English Premier League: "I am proud to be Egyptian, and I want to show the world that Egypt has great and talented players. I hope that young Egyptians will watch my career and believe in themselves." Regarding his goal against Bournemouth, which he shot from long range, Marmoush said: "I don't really know why I shot from that distance. It happened quickly, and I'm happy that the ball went the right way. I want to do it again."
The Egyptian striker also recalled his first Premier League goal against Newcastle, which was a team effort featuring numerous touches from his teammates, including Norwegian striker Erling Haaland and Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson. Marmoush explained, "My teammates make everything easier. They've given me the confidence to express myself even when things aren't perfect. The culture here pushes you forward, which is what makes Manchester City such a strong team."
The Egyptian striker also spoke about his first hat-trick for the team, which he scored in his third game with Manchester City, saying, "It was a dream start. Scoring a hat-trick for a team like City. I couldn't ask for more. It was the result of the work I've done for years." Marmoush's career had a quiet start, playing for Wadi Degla, which shaped his football mentality.
Regarding this, Marmoush said, "Playing for a small team was good because it meant there was no pressure on me. This helped me learn on my own, and when I moved to Europe, that calm was one of my strengths." Marmoush is now a key member of the Egyptian national team, helping them reach the 2026 World Cup. Regarding representing Egypt in international competitions, Marmoush said, "I want to be more than just a goalscorer. I want to represent Egypt in the best way possible."
