"Shave your head to see the movie"... A strange condition for those wishing to attend "Bugonia"

Admission to a movie theater usually requires a paid ticket, but the distributor of "Bugonia" has set a different condition for seeing the early screening: a head shave.

Focus Features, the distributor of the absurdist sci-fi comedy, has announced a challenge for those wishing to attend the early screening of the film starring Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone. Stone and Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos have gained a strong fan base after collaborating on the Oscar-nominated films "Poor Things" and "The Favourite." "Bogonia" is scheduled to open in select theaters on Friday and then nationwide on October 31.

In "Bogonia," Stone plays Michelle Fuller, a powerful pharmaceutical executive who is abducted by two of her relatives, conspiracy theorists so convinced she's an alien that they shave her head. With a barber on hand, fans like Sam Sherman of Los Angeles came forward to get their haircuts to get into the screening. "I was already thinking about shaving my head," Sherman said.

"I saw a post about it and thought, 'This is a perfect excuse because I want to see "Bogonia" anyway. I can go see it two weeks or so before it comes out, and then get a free haircut and a free movie. It's hard to say no.'" Matthew Lopez, 29, said he thought Stone's shaved head was a brilliant idea for the film's skinhead appeal. "It's a very exciting feeling," he added. "It's like, 'Okay, I did it. I did it.' I can feel some connection to the story."
