Shocking footage has emerged of a man miraculously saving a driver from a car that had plunged into a river in China's Jiangsu Province. The driver was trying to avoid hitting an elderly woman riding an electric scooter.

The driver was trying to avoid hitting an elderly woman on an electric scooter when his black Audi swerved and plunged into a river in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, China, on October 14.

The driver was trapped inside the car and was unable to escape as it sank. A 40-year-old former soldier, Di Shuangcheng, bravely jumped into the water and, with the help of a police officer, smashed the sunroof with a rock to free the driver after the car was completely submerged.
