Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé won the Ballon d'Or for the best player in the world during the Best in the World gala held by France Football magazine on Monday at one of the prestigious theaters in the French capital.
Everyone held their breath before former Brazilian, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain star Ronaldinho revealed the winner between Dembélé and Yamal. The French international winger won the award from Lamine Yamal, who had won the Kopa Trophy for the best young player in the world for the second consecutive time during the same ceremony.
Liverpool and Egypt winger Mohamed Salah came in fourth place, behind Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha, who finished third. France Football magazine revealed the top ten players in the race for the prestigious award, with Portugal's Vitinha coming in third, followed by Egypt's Mohamed Salah in fourth, and Barcelona's Brazilian Rafinha in fifth.
Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, the right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, came in sixth place, followed by Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé in seventh, Chelsea player Cole Palmer in eighth, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who transferred from Paris Saint-Germain, in ninth, and Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes of Paris Saint-Germain in tenth.
In women's football, Aitana Bonmati, the star of Barcelona and the Spanish national team, won the Ballon d'Or for the best female player in the world for the third consecutive time.Bonmati received the award from former Barcelona and Spain star Andrés Iniesta, whom the Spanish player described as her role model and from whom she has always learned a lot.
