Zuckerberg's net worth jumps nearly 12% to $268 billion

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the world's third-richest person after Meta's stock surged with better-than-expected earnings.

Zuckerberg's net worth jumped nearly 12% to $268.4 billion on Thursday, an increase of about $28.4 billion, after Meta's stock price rose more than 11%. Zuckerberg, who owns a 13% stake in Meta, surpassed Amazon CEO Bezos, whose fortune is $247.4 billion, to become the world's third-richest person, according to Forbes' real-time billionaires list.

Zuckerberg's rise to third place came even as Bezos' net worth added about $4.5 billion after Amazon shares rose about 2%. Elon Musk remains the world's richest person by a wide margin, with a fortune estimated at $403.5 billion as of Thursday, followed by Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison in second place with a fortune of $306 billion.

After Zuckerberg's rise to third place, Bezos slipped to fourth-richest person in the world, according to Forbes' live rankings. The Red Sea Wind Alliance announced the full commercial operation of a 650-megawatt wind farm near the Egyptian city of Ras Ghareb on the Red Sea coast.
