Oprah Winfrey Makes a Serious Confession: She Promoted Weight Loss in the Wrong Way
Famous American talk show host Oprah Winfrey admitted during a live YouTube broadcast in collaboration with a health company that she had previously promoted unhealthy and unrealistic diets for a long time. Winfrey said, "I want to admit that I was a major participant in this diet culture."
Oprah's admission highlighted not only the need to avoid bad diets and raise awareness, but also the role celebrities play in promoting false information and diets that, even if true, may not be suitable for everyone. In this context, nutritionist Manal Ali Ahmed said in an interview with Sky News Arabia's "Sabah" program:
Many people are influenced by celebrities and believe them, which leads them to follow diets that may not be suitable for their bodies. The diets promoted are often incomplete and lead to vitamin, mineral, and fluid deficiencies. Muscle mass should be maintained by following a healthy, protein-rich diet.
The greater the muscle mass, the greater the metabolic rate. Sleep lowers the body's metabolic rate, and stress increases cortisol levels, which leads to abdominal fat accumulation. Strict diets can lead to psychological problems.
