Chrome will warn Android users of phishing notifications and attempts and attempt
Google announced the launch of new AI-powered protections to combat phishing attempts on Chrome for Android users. The tech giant will begin using Gemini Nano, a large language model on devices, on desktops to protect users from online scams.
Google will also launch new AI-powered warnings for Chrome on Android to help users identify annoying notifications, according to a report by the technology news website TechCrunch, reviewed by Al Arabiya Business. Google notes that the Enhanced Protection mode in Safe Browsing in Chrome offers the highest level of protection, offering users twice the protection against phishing and other online threats compared to the browser's standard protection mode.
Now, Google will use the Gemini Nano model to provide Enhanced Protection users with an additional layer of protection against online fraud. Google said this approach on devices will provide real-time indicators of suspicious websites to protect users from fraud, including those they've never seen before.
Google notes that the threat of fraudulent websites can extend beyond the site itself through notifications if they are enabled. Malicious websites can use notifications to try to deceive users, which is why Chrome will now help users identify malicious, annoying, or misleading notifications on Android.
