Robbers tunneled through a concrete wall to gain access to a Los Angeles jewelry store and stole at least $10 million worth of watches, necklaces, gold chains, and other merchandise, police said.
The robbery occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Love Jewels, located on Broadway in the heart of downtown Los Angeles' Jewelry District, according to police. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage showing the suspects entering the store through a large opening they dug from the adjacent property.
"They dug through several layers of concrete to reach the target location," police said Tuesday. An unknown number of suspects fled through the same opening and boarded a new pickup truck. The robbery went undetected until employees arrived at work Monday morning.
