Dutch manager Arne Slott praised striker Mohamed Salah after the "amazing" Egyptian equaled Liverpool's record for assists in the English Premier League, setting up the winning goal scored by fellow Dutchman Virgil van Dijk in Wednesday's victory over Sunderland.

Slott's highlighting of Salah's perfectly executed corner kick, which van Dijk headed into the net in the 61st minute, reflects the continuing improvement in the relationship between the Dutch manager and the Egyptian striker. 

Salah had previously stated that the club had "thrown me under the bus" and explained that he was not on good terms with Slott after being left out of several matches following a prolonged dip in form this season.

His comments sparked speculation about a possible departure, but he quickly cleared the air with the Dutchman and regained his place in the starting lineup. 

With his final assist, Salah secured another milestone in his illustrious Liverpool career, bringing his total to 92 assists and equaling club legend Steven Gerrard's record.

Slot said: "He's got a lot of records with this club, but to share this one with a great player like Steven... they were both incredible players for this club. Unfortunately for Steven, I expect Mo to surpass him. I don't expect it, but I hope he does."
